Why This Matters

A team that treats AI as a replacement. Where AI Genuinely Helps QA Work

AI tools are strong at drafting — producing a first-pass test case, a first-pass test data set, a first-pass automation script, from a clear input — fast, at volume, without fatigue. This is the same shape of value automation itself provides for repeated, deterministic execution (Introduction to Automation Testing), applied one level earlier, to the authoring step rather than the running step.

AI tools are also strong at pattern recognition across large volumes of text or data — summarizing a long log file, suggesting a plausible root cause from a stack trace, spotting a structural similarity between a new defect and past ones.

Where AI Falls Short

AI tools are weak at judgment calls requiring genuine business context — whether a specific edge case actually matters for this specific customer segment, whether a "technically passing" result actually reflects the intended behavior.
